Antique Turkish Kula 4'6"×5'2"
C. 1850 This is an older version of our 11140, with a characteristic yellow strip-style border displaying a fringed red meander enclosing stemmed carnations and stemmed rosettes. The teal field develops red corner octagons and leaves, and supports a stepped charcoal sub-field with terminal vases and a close packing of floating, polychrome palmettes. Pattern derived from 17-18th century “Transylvanian” rugs. All wool construction, medium village weave. Light wear toward the centre. Fairly good condition.
