Antique Turkish Kilim 2'8"×11'8"
C. 1870 This is the counterpart to 26087, the so-called “Rashwan” in the trade. All-natural dyes including madder red, indigo dark blue, indigo light blue, vine leaf yellow, and undyed natural cream wool. Slit tapestry technique. Field/border edge shows a clever transitioning reciprocal double hooked pattern. Not made IN Aleppo, the “City of Silk”, but more likely woven by villagers in the surrounding countryside. Intact end finish tassels. Good condition. Buy these two and complete the piece!
