Antique Turkish Bergama 5'6"×8'3"
C. 1895 A real puzzler, especially without seeing the actual piece. The straw border with disjoint ashiks is definitely Caucasian. The navy indigo field is patterned after a kilim or other flatweave, with three red and navy panels decorated with large and smaller fringed lozenges, with fringed lozenges between and a single red panel at one field end. Tilted fringes all round the long panels.Pale blue, green, red and navy accents. Fair condition with a worn spot and area wear. Wool foundation, medium village weave. Puzzling, but traditional with natural dyes.
