New Persian Gabbeh 7'0"×9'7"
C. 1980 This moderately well-woven tribal piece shows a five by eight panel pattern in the Bakhtiari style on a deep red ground. The panels show branches, various types of mihrab arches, weeping willows, ragged palmettes, and centralized carpet designs, all in shades of teal, cream, rust, medium blue and sand. The red main border features reversing palmettes and amusing slender forked arabesques. Reduction at one end. Otherwise good condition with crisp palette.
