Antique Turkish Kilim Fragment 2'1"×4'6"
C. 1850 Long kilims, as here, are woven on narrow village looms in two sections and are edge joined. The original piece probably had four, five, or even six bipartite hexagons. The desirable cream field of this slit tapestry technique flatweave shows lazy S’s and other geometric devices. Exceptional natural dye palette including teal, light blue, goldenrod, dark blue, scarlet red, chocolate, pale green, and tangerine-rust. All wool construction. A narrow strip of border intact at one end. Attractive wall piece; should be mounted and stretched for maximum effect. Good condition.
