Antique Caucasian Shirvan 3'5"×4'8"
In abrashed, edge-to-edge shades of teal, turquoise and China blue, this pattern minimal, but chromatically rich carpet shows subtle ton-on-tone zig-zags, dots, lines, tiny squares and tweed twill motives. Abrash lines vary in both width and placement, giving an informal look. Has a Gabbeh tribal feel, but an Indian workshop origin. How much freedom were the weavers given or was it all planned out to the last knot? Could it have been planned? Cotton foundation, moderate weave. As new condition.
