Semi-Antique Persian Meshad 9'11"×12'8"

This well-woven city piece shows the characteristic dark mulberry cochineal tone ground with an allover pattern of multi-level curling and spiraling blue arabesques (islimi), with literally hundreds of palmettes , hooked leaves and related devices. The pattern repeats, but is subtly directional. Navy border with tilted oval palmettes and upright petal palmettes, all in a classic split arabesque. Cotton foundation. Good condition. Pile clipped medium-low.
