New Pakistani Transitional-design 8'10"×11'10"
Although the classic 17th century “Vase carpet” design is most popular with Tabriz Persian weavers, it works, as here, effectively with urban carpets of any origin. The sandy-straw field displays a bilevel large vinery lattice anchored by a variety of oval and petal palmettes, complex rosettes, octogrammes, and iris amphora palmettes, all ‘round a central eight petal layered rosette. A variety of flower sprays fills the defined interstices. Red border with quatrefoil cartouches alternating with old ivory octogrammes. The pattern attractively slips toward one end and the range of ornament is exceptional. Cotton foundation, medium urban weave. As new condition.
