Antique Turkish Kilim Half 2'11"×6'9"

C. 1900 One half of a salamlik set, one half the seat, the other the back of the divan in a rustic Turkish house. The salamlik is the largest public room in a Turkish village house, as opposed to the private family haram quarters. The field is banded in red and dark blue, with larger and smaller hexagons or ashiks, all in a style related to Caucasian Shirvan kilims. Hooked cream zigzag end patterns were repeated on the missing other half. Several distinct secondary reds. All-wool construction, slit tapestry weave. Macrame end finishes and partial tassels. Good condition.
