Antique Persian Mahajeran Sarouk 3'3"×4'9"

C. 1920 From early in the “American Sarouk” style, this well-woven scatter, tentatively attributed to Mohajeran, the reputed locale of the best Sarouks in the area, shows a scarlet abrashed field with a fairly widely set pattern of stems, sprays, leaves, eight-petal flowers and budding stems. Teal green, navy, straw and green details. Navy border with reversing turtle palmettes, “fish” leaves and rosettes. Cotton foundation, well-woven. Light wear with a few white cotton warp knots visible, a condition easily remedied. Good condition.
