Antique Persian Hamadan 3'2"×4'11"
C. 1920 The Greater Hamadan Weaving Area is incredibly prolific, specializing in scatters, long rugs (kellegis) and runners (kenares). Here the dusty rose field shows a three column Herati design underlaying a royal blue octagon medallion with multi-petal tulips, a central nested diamond and barred “fish” leaves. Small animals and birds. Royal blue deeply serrated corners with cream bent leaves and dark blue border with unidirectional simple flower chains. Cotton foundation, medium-coarse weave. Light spot wear. Fairly good condition.
