Antique Persian Bidjar 7'7"×11'1"
C. 1885 This is a totally classic Kurdish city carpet with their version of the “bookcover”-style open field in a rich navy supporting a stepped ecru and red diamond medallion with abrashed medium to light blue stencil palmette pendants. Mustard yellow extended corners with Irregular lattices enclosing flowerheads and related vegetal motives. Red border with the Zanbaki design. Reciprocal black and ecru keyhole minors and plain navy outer frame. Needs attention, especially to upper right corner with hole. Visible reduction at both ends. Ends should be stabilized. Beautiful, ultra-classic antique carpet. Wool foundation, very solid weave.
