Antique Persian Afshar 6'7"×13'1"
This antique Persian carpet is attributed to the Afshar tribe that inhabits areas in the southeastern region of modern-day Iran, particularly around the cities of Shiraz, Kerman and Yazd. Afshar designs often display influences from many areas, particularly the Caucasus and Turkey, but are otherwise in the vein of classical Persian-style carpets. This piece uses a contrast between an unadorned orange field and a deep navy medallion and border to create an eye catching design.
