Antique Persian Luri 4'2"×8'0"
This antique Persian carpet is attributed to the Luri (or Lori) tribe of southwestern Persia. The Luri were originally of Turkish and Caucasian origins but moved to the mountainous southern regions of Persia several centuries ago. Their weavings display many motifs that are now common among Persian carpets and display the influences of tribe’s northern origins. This piece features chains of geometric figures that run the length of the field.
