Antique Persian Khamseh 6'5"×11'8"
This antique Persian carpet is attributed to the Khamseh tribes that reside in the southern areas of modern-day Iran. The Khamseh are a collection of at least five tribes wth a rich history of producing excellent woven textiles. This particular piece is very finely woven, allowing for an extraordinarily intricate pattern of geometric designs, organized into large stylized botehs, to dominate the navy background of the main field. The field is split by a chain of medallions with ivory fields and surround by several geometric borders.
