Semi Antique Kurdish 3'5"×4'5"
C. 1895 This is a close copy of a Daghestan scatter, with a red field supporting an ecru lozengoid leaf lattice enclosing sharp palmettes accented in straw and green. Ivory main border with a roughly and naively drawn barred S pattern in red, green and straw. Moderately coarse woven on wool foundation. An example of acceptable cultural appropriation. Created for the Western market to compete with genuine Caucasian rugs. Good condition.
