Antique Persian Kurdish Bidjar 6'1"×19'7"
C. 1900 From an accomplished village in the Bidjar weaving area, this very solidly woven, all wool construction kellegi (long/gallery carpet) features a small-scale allover Herati design of bent leaves, concave open diamonds and diminutive rosettes, all on the rich navy indigo field. The abrashed red border is much bolder, with vases, flowers, rectangular rosettes and barbed leaves, in a style also seen on Mahal/Arak Province rugs. Medium-fine board-like weave. Good condition.
