Antique Kazak 3'8"×5'10"
Dated 1804 A pole medallion of three red and camel-tone hexagons, with arrowhead finials, dominates the deep navy ground. Each panel encloses a hooked diamond, in red or deep moss green. Amusing human figures offering bowls and rustic peacocks add rustic charm. Illegibly inscribed in red and ecru strips near one field end. Cerulean blue main border with floating, differently-coloured hooked diamonds. Red/blue triangle reciprocal outer border. The human figures may be the weavers. All-wool construction. Excellent pile wool. Good condition with a semi-coarse rural weave.
