Antique Turkmen Saryk 2'8"×5'9"
C. 1900 From the Kareem Jabbar Collection, this large tent bag face shows three columns of two orange-red centred “Mar” guls in the Salor manner, with peripheral hooks, detailed in navy and ecru, on a rose cochineal ground. Numerous geometric borders with hooked lozenges and squares, nested chevrons and discs. Rose elem (lower skirt) with offset columns of poled ashiks. Leathery texture, fine nomadic weave, wool foundation. Good condition. Not a Saryk, but a Tekke from the same general area.
