Antique Turkmen Bashir 5'2"×9'2"
C. 1890 The Ersari Turkmen tribal weavers, principally in Uzbekistan, are heavily influenced by Persian urban patterns, as shown here with a simplified allover Herati pattern in coral red on a deep blue field filled with little red dots. The red border shows a characteristic “bug” or “frog” pattern in straw, cream and red, with attached navy coils. Goat hair warp, medium-coarse tribal weave. Woven on a flat loom. Areas of light wear producing a ribbed, corduroy effect. Authentic tribal piece. Fairly good condition.
