Antique Caucasian Shiraz 5'0"×6'9"
C. 1900 The Khamseh Tribal Confederation weaves rugs in the general geometric “Shiraz” manner, here with two attached, stepped and fringed ivory diamonds forming a pole, against a deep navy sub-field covered with four tall flowers, octagons, rosettes and serrated leaves, and some small chickens and dogs. Ivory honeycomb corners with row reversing botehs. Red border with stars-in-octagons. Wool foundation, medium tribal weave. Fairly good condition, but the ends need stabilizing and attention. Authentic piece.
