Antique Caucasian Kuba Kilim 6'0"×11'4"
C. 1880 In the Caucasian Shirvan manner, but more loosely and boldly drawn, this all-wool slit tapestry cover shows four-wide bands in red and navy, each with four hooked diamonds in ecru, straw-goldenrod, red and green. Lozenge and triangle pattern secondary and tertiary stripes. The NW Persian pieces eliminate the fine-structure elements of Shirvan in favor of larger areas of strong colour. This is an attractive example of that trend. Slit tapestry weave. Good condition. Needs a stretch.
