Semi-Antique Persian Nain 5'4"×9'9"
C. 1950 This very finely woven, short “kurk” pile city rug shows a rare – for Nain – rust-salmon field with birds and animals among palmettes and arabesques, set within a straw-sand border with predator/prey pursuits, paired birds and barbed leafy sprays. Small sandy-straw gently lobed almond medallion with animals and a light blue sub-medallion with four birds. Cotton foundation. Slight wear to the fringe, but in good condition. An unusual format and palette for Nain weaving.
