Semi-Antique Persian Kashan 9'8"×12'8"
Around 1950, weavers in Kashan happened on to the classic medallion and corners layout, with pendants and swirling palmettes on arabesque stems, and, as here, stuck with it. The stepped and acanthus-edged red medallion overlies the navy field. It is partially matched by the extended red corners with rosette and palmette designs. Barbed acanthus edges to medallion and corners. Navy border with petal palmettes, triple rosettes and split acanthus vinery. Ecru reversing fan palmette guard lines. Medium-fine urban weave on cotton. Collector inventory, never used. Excellent condition.
