Semi-Antique Persian Josheghan 3'7"×5'1"
Joshaghan rugs are consistent in design if nothing else. As here, red fields are characteristic, with dark blue, often stepped pendanted (here four) medallions and matching corners. The field, medallion and corners all show lozenge-shaped floral arrays or lozenge shaped individual plants. Lozenges everywhere. Not in the border, however, with squared-off palmettes and slanted rolled leaves, on ecru (or on blue). Cotton foundation, medium-fine weave. Good condition. Nobody else (in Persia makes Joshaghan-style rugs.
