C. 1890 The coral red field displays two pole medallion columns of six and one half off-white edged curly hooked lozenges enclosing hooked lozenges, with a run of similars up the centre. Accents in mustard, navy and burnt apricot. Burnt apricot main border with stepped crosses; inner polychrome stripe with interlocked S’s. Outer cream band with reversing stepped motives. Intact macramé braided end finishes and some square braided tassels surviving. Natural dyes, medium village weave. Kurdish origin. Good condition.Probably Kurdish from Gaziantep in SE Anatolia, this all wool rustic kellegi (long rug) shows a pole medallion of five joined hexagons edged in off white curled hooks, enclosing navy reserves. Coral red field with double right triangle side fillers. Hooked diamonds run along the field sides. Ochre border with hooked diamonds, hooked stars and bar separators. Macrame braided end finishes. Medium rustic weave. Good condition.
