Antique Shirvan 4'0"×5'9"
C. 1895 In the Kuba Soumak design, with two red cross-indented flattened hexagonal medallions on a near black field. Red secondary octagons in the corners and a range of colourful knots in the triangular central side reserves. Straw and off-white octagons anchor each medallion. Ecru border with squared off two-blade pinwheels with colour sampler centres. The multi-tone striped side minors narrow along the ends. Moderate rustic weave. The uniformly tan wool warp and the main pattern tend to point to Kuba, north of Shirvan, as the originating area. Light, even wear. Fairly good to good condition.
