Antique Persian Sarouk Fereghan 9'3"×12'9"
C. 1900 A four pendant rose octofoil sub-medallion anchors the navy, slightly scalloped four pendant central motif, in a wine-red subfield with rosettes, leaves and vinery. Ecru corners in this “bookcover” layout shrink to mere lines along the sides. Navy border with ragged strapwork and rough oval medallions enclosing palmettes and floral wreaths. Details in pale green, light-medium blue, ecru, rose green. An attractive and well-woven example from the best period of Sarouk-Farahan weaving. Cotton foundation. Urban style, rustic origin. Good condition.
