Antique Persian Kashan 10'0"×13'4"
C. 1935 While the majority of these town workshop carpets are in a red/blue tonality, this well-woven example shows a less-common navy field upholding a small red and ecru central medallion, within a fine arabesquerie of palmettes, floral racemes, rosettes and vines. Red and cream semi-en suite corners. Ecru, goldenrod, pale green, rust-orange and sandy-straw details. Crisp red border with various palmette types and forked arabesque scrollery. Cotton foundation, clipped short pile. Good condition. Balanced, elaborated and thoroughly urbane.
